CALL FOR PAPERS

Agronomy & Leaf Integrity and Phytopathology & Genetics

THEME: From Field to Future: Advancing Tobacco Science Through Innovation and Environmental Stewardship

The Call for Papers is now closed (deadline was 30 May 2025).
All abstracts submitted have been reviewed and authors have been informed of the CORESTA Scientific Commission Reading Committee's selection at the end of June 2025.

The Conference Programme and List of Papers can be found on the Programme page.

This year's conference will continue CORESTA’s tradition to network and foster new collaborative opportunities. In this spirit, scientific research related to tobacco and nicotine products will be presented, which will include the following topic areas :

  • The role of agronomy on leaf production and composition, such as nicotine and other alkaloids, harmful and potentially harmful constituents (HPHCs) and other compounds
  • Technology, such as genetics and breeding, variety development, adaptation to abiotic and biotic stresses, germplasm preservation, biological processes, agronomic practices, smart farming, data management, economics, and seed innovation
  • Crop and environmental protection, such as crop protection agents (CPAs), integrated pest management, biocontrol/organic pesticides, diagnostics, weed management, CPA residue monitoring, emerging pest and disease issues
  • Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), such as sustainable crop production, agronomy and plant physiology, farmer and field technician education/training, sustainable curing, water resources, soil management, and other improving efficiencies for tobacco production or any agricultural raw materials
  • Environmental impact, Social responsibility and Governance (ESG), such as supply chain due diligence, social and economic issues, human rights impact assessment, agricultural labour practices, traceability, reforestation, and biodiversity
  • Specialty and heritage tobaccos and derived products from Indonesia, such as kretek (clove), wrapper leaf (cigars), rajangan and madura tobaccos, production practices, and plant breeding
  • Product technology, such as innovative research that explores the transformative impact of AI and other cutting-edge technologies in advancing tobacco harm reduction, and using tobacco as a bioreactor
